It freaking hurts

So, I was going to go to Capoeira tonight, but I did an aú before we left and I landed on my knee. And the result…

That’s after putting ice on it for an hour or so. Hopefully it will be better by Wednesday… I don’t want to lose what I’ve learned in the last 2 1/2 months because of some stupid injury.

I’m also looking for an alternative to Gallery.  I currently have Gallery 2 installed on my web server and it requires 16M of memory, which Linode doesn’t always have to allocate to me (I have the lowest grade plan).  Dear Lazyweb, what other photo gallery applications are out there that compare to Gallery and are a bit less resource intensive?

  1. Try a different image handling toolkit. If memory serves, (no pun intended) netpbm and/or imagemagick are preferable to GD when it comes to memory use. Gallery should support at least one of those two, and imagemagick is installed on quite a few systems.

I’d be interested to know if that helps.

P.S. That captcha is pretty brutal…

  2. Greetings Bryan,

when doing chartwheels make sure to keep your arms bend and legs straight (in the air of course :). Thus your center of gravity stays low and you’ll be able to come around much faster. Don’t forget to throw your upper body into the movement too! Also try to actively pull the first leg – coming around – towards the floor. That’ll make your aús saver, faster and very stylish. As a side-note… this will also ease your path to doing aú sem mao (free chartwheel) one day.

    Best regards…
